RFT - Rottnest Island Authority (WA) - Upgrade/Replacement of Microwave System

The Rottnest Island Authority (RIA) is seeking to upgrade the Microwave link between Rottnest Island and the mainland.

At present, a 10MBit/sec link is used, but there is insufficient capacity available from the current provider to supply the additional bandwidth required by the RIA for future needs. 

It is required the upgraded system be commissioned and operational by the end of November 2011

Notice - NSW Procurement (NSW) - Managed Services for Government Radio Network RFP - forward notice

This is only an Advance Notice for an upcoming Request for Proposal (RFP) 

The Government Radio Network, including End-User terminals and dispatch consoles, is currently being upgraded to Motorola ASTRO™ 25 IP, Integrated Voice and Data.  This will be completed by the Start Date of the proposed tender. 

The GRN consists of:

(a) a Network Operations Control Centre located in secure leased premises in the Sydney CBD;

(b) a Disaster Recovery Network Operations Control Centre located in secure premises in the outer suburbs of Sydney;

(c)  152 Sites spread across a “footprint” covering approximately one third of NSW, and 8 Sites across the ACT;

(d) 1005 Base Stations located at NSW Sites and 49 Base Stations located at ACT Sites; and

(e) a mix of landline and radio frequency links connecting the Sites to the Network Operations Control Centre and the Disaster Recovery Network Operations Control Centre. 

Note:  The current Government Radio Network Services Agreement will expire on 30^th June 2012; therefore, the proposed Government Radio Network Services Agreement must commence by 1^st July 2012. 

It is expected that RFP: 1002399 will be released in the week commencing 10^th October 2011.

The purpose of this Request for Tender (RFT) is for the Government to secure arrangements for the supply of public network access and carriage services from 27 March 2012, when existing arrangements expire.


To achieve this objective, the Government is seeking to appoint one or more suppliers to deliver these services via POTS, ISDN and IP-based technologies. Because the Government is willing to contract with more than one supplier for these services, Tenderers are not required to offer all of the access technologies listed.
