Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) is seeking the services of a software development engineer with experience in 3D modelling to contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of a human in the loop simulation system to enable virtual exploration of tactics and concepts of operation for military air operations in the maritime environment.  The role will require close liaison with DSTO SHARP Project staff and staff from the Air Operations Simulation Centre (AOSC), and may be tasked in both areas during the course of the contract.

RFT - CSIRO (AUS) - Pawsey Supercomputing Centre for SKA Science, Kensington WA - Construction

This site is owned by CSIRO in freehold title and sits adjacent to other CSIRO properties, forming a greater campus facility.

The proposed Pawsey HPC Centre will accommodate approximately 6,000m² of the 2 hectare site, situated in the north eastern corner. The site has significant level variations with falls across the northern boundary in the order of 10m. The building floor levels have been set to take advantage of the existing landform to ensure an efficient use of the available land.

The site is currently undeveloped and has the remnants of an introduced pine plantation.

Supporting the need for high end research computing the 4,500m² facility accommodates a 1,000m² computer hall above a 1,300 m² basement.  The computer hall is supported by a 1150m² detached annex plant building. The computer hall will house a computer system that is comparable to the current world's top 10 supercomputers and will aim to meet best practise energy efficient targets. The Computer hall comprises three separate cells with distinct temperature and humidity profiles.  With all supercomputing systems, a critical aspect is energy usage.  The building proposal utilises a combination of air cooling with chilled water technology to meet the significant cooling demand.

A public outreach exhibition space wraps the northern facade to provide a strong public presence. This space will display material relative to the supercomputer and science projects by way of both static and audio / visual means. The space will support varying visitor groups including scientists, dignitaries and school children's excursions.

The project incorporates a component of office accommodation with conference room and amenities that will provide best practise for internal environment quality, including access to views and natural light, natural ventilation and worker / staff comfort.

EOI - Department of Defence (AUS) - Centralised Processing Services

Defence needs effective and efficient Information and Communications Technology (ICT) capability for the conduct of operations and for the conduct of its business.  The ICT computing environment that supports Defence military and business operations is, at the broadest level, made up of six essential components including:

1.       software applications which manage data and support processes;

2.       end user devices that allow users to interact with other software applications;

3.       ICT infrastructure that runs software applications and stores data;

4.       the communications network that connects end user devices to the ICT infrastructure;

5.       specialist data centre facilities that house the ICT infrastructure; and

6.       a management organisation providing end-to-end accountability for service delivery according to contractual service level agreements.

The scope of Centralised Processing addresses the computing and storage platforms, the data centre facilities and the services that support this infrastructure (bullet points 3, 5 and 6 above).

This ITR is the first stage of a two stage procurement process to address the requirements of Centralised Processing. The second stage, if any, will be a select Request for Tender (RFT).
