RFQ - Dept of Internal Affairs (NZ) - Privacy Impact Assessments for proposed new information sharing provisions in the Passports Act

The Department of Internal Affairs is requesting quotations from suitably experienced and qualified parties to conduct up to five draft Information Matching Privacy Impact Assessments (IMPIAs) on behalf of the Passports Office.

As part of the Passport Redevelopment Programme (PRP), the Passport Office is developing new business processes and supporting systems to establish and confirm the identity of passport applicants and to confirm the applicant’s entitlement to a passport.

The key objectives for the draft IMPIAs are:

a) To provide the Privacy Commissioner with a detailed analysis of the five proposed new information sharing provisions in terms of the information matching guidelines set out in section 98 of the Privacy Act 1993.
b) To enable the Privacy Commissioner to evaluate and make recommendations to the Minister of Justice as required by section 13(1) (f) of the Privacy Act 1993
