The SWISH Database will undertake the following:
- Collect the details of all babies born in NSW from multiple Patient Administration Systems in NSW
- Track the management of babies’ hearing test results through the stages of screening, referral and diagnosis within AHSs and, where required, between AHSs
- Generate letters to care-givers/parents, child and family health nurses, paediatricians and GPs, based on the results and events in the screening and diagnostic stages
- Generate a range of reports to manage and monitor the program
- Establish and maintain a permanent record of results available state wide
