Hamilton YOT is facilitated by the four main government agencies/bodies providing services to youth offenders, i.e. Police, Child Youth and Family, Ministry of Education and Health. Since its establishment, the Hamilton YOT has spent considerable time sharing understandings and identifying key issues in the youth justice sector.
The envisaged web-based application will improve the coordination and quality of the intervention with a child or young person, who has come to the attention of the Police for offending, in order to increase wellbeing and reduce the likelihood of offending and re-offending.
The project will focus on supporting service delivery and enhancing the information collected to measure performance to better inform service improvement and accountability.
The objectives of the project are to:
- design a web-based electronic information system that complies with all relevant privacy requirements
- improve the responsiveness of each of the parties to young people at risk in Hamilton
- enhance the timely sharing of information between YOT Caucus members
- promote efficient work practices within and between Caucus
- promote cooperative and collaborative working relationships between Caucus
- improve the safety of young people at risk in Hamilton, and
- assist the upholding and enforcing of the law
